Complete technology for 700 litres

Complete technology for 700 litres

Enquiry from Mr. Uhlemann / Germany

I have a 340 litres marine aquarium and would like to buy a new basin with new technology. The basin shall have the dimensions 175 x 70 x 60 cm and stand on a cabinet which also allows accommodating a skimmer approx. 80 cm high in it. I am interested in particular in complete filter systems with skimmers as a cabinet variation, separate filters for cabinet fitting and also very much in variable circulation pumps. Please send me a suggestion, which types are suitable for my basin size. I would like to keep lower animals and fishes in it again. For the high and low tide flow, etcetera, do I need two or four pumps and with what pumping capacity ?

Answer

For a 750 litre reef aquarium we recommend the Filter Kit 19 GCa or preferably, right from the outset, the 20 GCa. These two cabinet filters contain the entire water treatment and level controls as well as calcium reactor 1674 S.
Moreover, we recommend in addition a pH-CO2 control 7074 in order to obtain easily and simply an optimum calcium rating.
For filtering the aquarium water must be conducted downwards, for this purpose we suggest using an outlet 1076/2 in the two rear corners of the basin in combination with a drain pipe set for each. In this way you achieve optimum surface and bottom suction with a very low noise level.
If you wish to install from TUNZE only the skimmer in a filter of your own design, you have the choice between 240/3, the 314/2 or even 3160/2. These models are then a little overrated but with them one can allow oneself some "errors". In order to obtain constant skimmer performance the water level in the filter chamber must remain rather constant at + / - 1 cm.
As regards the circulation technology, such a basin should be fitted with a flow kit TF 08, plus two pumps for 4000 l/hr, or preferably with kit TF 16 and four pumps for 4000 l/hr. In the first case the two pumps should be placed in the two rear corners, in the second case at all four corners of the basin. Direct the pumps in such manner that a circular flow is produced, which carries the dirt towards the filters. It would be useful to fit an interval timer in periods of 3 to 5 hrs, i.e. low and high tide simulation. These two kits may be retrofitted and, if necessary, may be supplemented later with further Turbelle electronic pumps. In respect of mounting facilities the new general-purpose holding device leaves nothing to be desired. Do not neglect to match the pumping capacity in your reef basin to the growth of the animals.
